About Us - Owners of Bluefolds in Speyside
Bluefolds Highland Cottages: born out of a passion for the Scottish Highlands
Chris and Sue, would like to welcome you wholeheartedly to Bluefolds self-catering holiday cottages. We are both passionate about the lifestyle Scotland offers us especially having a soft spot for Moray Speyside and the Cairngorms National Park. We fell in love with the area in 2000 during our first stay at the cottages – not least because of the unrivalled location in rural Glenlivet, but also the wide range of activities for all ages available in the area. When the opportunity to relocate from the North West of England arose, the decision was one of the easiest we have ever made. So, in March 2018 we packed up and here we are, more than willing and able to help you experience the stunning panorama, tranquility, wildlife & surrounding area. Enjoy each day in the comfort of the cottages which brings pleasure and relaxation whilst at the same time do not miss the opportunity to get out and about exploring, there is plenty to see and do. As we both say every day, you really must see the view to believe it.
We will continue the 4 star standards set by Steve and Elizabeth Oliver who we both would like to thank firstly for the numerous holidays we have had over the years but also the opportunity to put a massive lifestyle tick on our bucket list.
We plan to be active members of the local community and are keen to share our experiences and knowledge to promote the area. We have everything in place to ensure you have the holiday of your dreams; and maximize your enjoyment with information, simple inspiration through photography or the chance to interact with the community as well as the understanding to leave you to enjoy your tranquil retreat in the remote cottages.
Malt Whisky Expert
If you’re a malt whisky drinker, you’ll be pleased to hear that Steve Oliver the previous owner is a true expert on Speyside Malts and gives regular talks and tastings during the Spirit of Speyside and the Autumn Speyside Whisky Festivals based in Dufftown. In addition, Steve assists Dufftown in running weekly whisky tastings during the summer season from July to September. He is always delighted to share his local insights with interested visitors and yes, you can be sure it is not difficult to persuade Steve to discuss his passion and maybe share a ‘wee dram’ at Bluefolds. Ask us about Steve’s popular “Around Scotland” and “Speyside Secrets” whisky talks and tastes.
Once experienced, this beautiful, wild, remote area is an inspiration to try and capture it forever, Chris shares Elizabeth passion for landscape, wildlife and local community photography, who captured it from every angle in all weather. I will continue to share the best places to take photographs and bring my own style through the Bluefolds Facebook page. Elizabeth will continue to run the Tomintoul & Glenlivet Highland Holidays Facebook page which shares and promotes examples of local photography.
We are looking forward to hearing from you and welcoming you here.
