Steve the previous owner is a malt whisky expert, and provides regular talks and tastings in the area and at the cottages, ask Chris and Sue for details. He is always delighted to share his local knowledge with interested visitors and yes, you can be sure of a ‘wee dram’ at Bluefolds. Dufftown - Glenfiddich Distillery and Whisky Festivals
Dufftown - the self-proclaimed “Malt Whisky Capital of the World” is at the heart of the Malt Whisky Trail. It boasts six working distilleries, including the world-renowned Glenfiddich. Distilleries with visitor centres offer tours while others are accessible by appointment only. The Glenlivet, currently the best-selling malt whisky worldwide, is the only distillery on Speyside to offer free tours and it’s right on the doorstep. This is also the centre for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival in spring and the Autumn Speyside Whisky Festival
Distilleries in Moray Speyside
Other local distilleries with visitor centres are Glenfarclas, Cardhu, Aberlour, Macallan, Balvenie, and Glen Grant. Further afield, you'll find the historic Dallas Dhu distillery and Benromach at Forres, Glen Moray at Elgin and GlenDronach at Huntly. Why not take the train from Dufftown to Strathisla at Keith?
And there are not only distilleries: in Dufftown listen to the Pipe Band practice then join a weekly whisky nosing and tasting during the summer months. Don’t miss a tour of the Speyside Cooperage and a visit to the Whisky Museum either! There is something for everyone.
